  • What an amazing time we had!

    South Kortright, NY

I took my family to visit Weathered Hill Farm today. What an amazing time we had. The view from the wagon ride was amazing. The kids had a blast. We got to see lots of animals (Pigs, sheep, lamb, turkey, chickens, horses and geese). Seeing antique farm equipment and hearing the history of the barn was a bonus. Thank you Connelly family for a great family day out. I'm looking forward to what the future will bring you all. Many blessings to your family.

Lambing season is a hectic time on our farm. It is a short window from February to April, but the stress is at its highest. The brutality of winter is just starting to wane and the food sources are beginning to dwindle. This is the time of year when our sheep need the most nutrients.

In the shows about Alaska and the people who live there, winter is always on their minds. Throughout the spring, summer, and autumn all that the people talk about is having enough food for the long winter months. Living in central New York in the Catskill Mountains, I can actually relate to these individuals and the struggle to have enough food. Maybe not so much for ourselves, but definitely for our animals.

It is true, the days are getting shorter, the nights colder, and the leaves are starting to facilitate their beautiful hues. These things can only mean one thing: Autumn is amongst us.

We had the pleasure of being one of the vendors at Bovina Farm Day this year. We were asked to do hay wagon rides with our faithful team, Bob the Belgium and Captain Morgan. It was just by chance that someone saw us at the Hobart Farmers’ Market doing rides with our team when we were approached about possibly doing it for Bovina Farm Day.

This year we participated in Family Farm Day 2018. Schoharie County, Otsego County and Delaware County Cornell Cooperative Extensions organized the fun filled day. The idea behind the event was to get people out and about to experience different types of farms and see where their food comes from.
